Training
Home > TrainingSSARC provide training for proffessionals that support families impacted by Sibling Sexual Abuse. This training has been created in collaboration with ‘lived experience experts’ and proffessionals within the mental health field. We believe in order to fully gain valuable insight, knowledge and reflective practice, it is imperative that we listen to the voices of those that have first hand experience in this area. It provides a more in-depth, comprehensive and unique opportunity to fully understand the complexities, nuances and challenges this type of abuse creates thus ensuring empathetic responding and support.
Throughout training practitioners will learn:
- Prevalence rates
- Research studies
- Interventions to support families as a whole
- The impacts on each member within the family
- How to effectively communicate with family members
- Resources to support both proffessionals and family members
- Other support organisations/referral routes etc.
We also run 6 week psychoeducational workshops for parents. This will empower parents to:
- Manage more effectively by looking after their own well-being and mental health following disclosure.
- Provide psychoeducation on SSA
- The impacts on both children and other siblings
- Therapeutic interventions
- Support groups
- CBT techniques to understand their own cognitive processes and emotions
- Resources for all family members etc.
